Armchair diagnosis and cosmetic dentistry treatment plan.
- History: The alignment of this person's teeth results in the existence of a space (a "diastema") between her two upper front teeth. Additionally her gums seem puffy and swollen. There appears to be dental plaque caked between some of the teeth and possibly tooth decay on the center two upper teeth.
- Treatment Plan: Simple brushing and flossing could go a long way towards improving the health of this person's gums and reducing the potential for tooth decay. If there is decay present on the two center upper teeth it seems likely that it could be easily repaired by the placement of white fillings (dental bonding).
Dental bonding could also be used as a means to close the space between the center two upper teeth. Another solution, and possibly a better one, would be to close the space by way of realigning her teeth via the use of orthodontic treatment (braces).
