Armchair diagnosis and cosmetic dentistry treatment plan.
- History: This person's picture gives the impression that their teeth and gums are good and healthy. It is simply the spacing of their teeth (especially the upper ones) that produces a cosmetic disharmony.
- Cosmetic dentistry treatment plan: Our after picture illustrates how the placement of
dental crowns (or possibly
dental veneers) could be used to make changes with this person's smile. The size (primarily the width) of each of the center four upper teeth has been changed by the crowns so to fill in the diastemas ("gaps") that lie between them. This change gives this person's smile a more even appearance. We have also illustrated how the placement of a dental crown on just one lower right tooth could also help to produce a more uniform look. (Of course the dentist performing the work we have shown would first have to evaluate this person's bite so to determine if what we have suggested would be possible.)
Possibly the before picture shows that there is a color discrepancy between this person's upper and lower teeth. If so this person might choose to perform an
at-home teeth whitening process so to lighten the color of their upper teeth.
