Armchair diagnosis and cosmetic dentistry treatment plan.
- History: Usually a person's center two teeth (central incisors) and their eyeteeth (cuspids) are similar in length. The teeth that lie in between (the lateral incisors) are usually just slightly shorter. In this case this person's lateral incisors are significantly shorter than one would expect.
- Cosmetic dentistry treatment plan: Our after picture illustrates how a combination of
dental crowns and
porcelain veneers could be utilized so to make changes with this person's smile. Porcelain veneers could be placed on the two center teeth so to provide the minor shape changes needed. Dental crowns could be placed on the lateral incisors so to give them more length.
Lengthening the lateral incisors will subject them to greater forces. The dentist performing this work will need to evaluate these teeth so to make sure that these increased forces will not be too great for them.
